477 children go to school here. There are only 6 classrooms, but 10 are needed.
The school had already failed once. It was Royal Park School, built privately, and it closed because the families around it could not afford the fees. It stood empty for three years.
He Is Worthy rented it in January 2024 and ran a school in it until May 2026, when we bought it outright.
Today 477 children are enrolled. The 150 who attend for free are our sponsored kids. The other 327 are from the villages surrounding the school. Many were not attending anywhere.
The 85 girls have one. The 55 boys do not. They sleep in a classroom.
That is the reason the building fund exists.
They board so that they eat.
The children on scholarship board through the week and go home at weekends. Not for the schooling — for the meals. A child who goes home every night does not reliably eat.
A library, a choir, and sports teams.
A missionary team came to the school in June 2026. It was led by Dr. Amanda Brendel and her aunt Robin White, both teachers, who assessed the school, the teachers and the children. With them was Daniel Mubiru, who has been using Amanda’s methods to teach in Uganda for several years; we have since hired Daniel as our Assistant Principal and Director of Studies. The team worked alongside our teachers while they were here and recommended we focus on phonics first. Since then our teachers have completed a four-day phonics training with a company called Read for Life.
They also gave one of their days to a Vacation Bible School for all 477 children, which included a skit of Daniel in the lions’ den. Fifty children professed faith in Christ that day.
A four-classroom block, a boys’ dormitory, a girls’ dormitory, toilets and showers for both, and the old dormitory turned into a computer lab and a clinic.
